Default A/C wiring diagram

I have a '97 2.3l xlt. I'd like to do some troubleshooting on the wiring for the a/c, but I don't have a decent wiring schematic to use. I have a Haynes manual, but it doesn't help much for this. Any suggestions?

I've gone through the obvious checks to the system, including the relay. However, the clutch on the compressor doesn't appear to be getting the signal to engage when the a/c is selected. I have no way of tracing the wiring out without tearing into the wire loom, which I would like to avoid, if possible.

Usually it is the low pressure switch. Unplug the LP switch and bridge the two pins together with a paperclip or similar "tool". If it comes on, you'll know it is the switch.

Question Re: A/C wiring diagram

When I pulled the low pressure plug off I checked the voltage and saw none. I was getting voltage to the high pressure switch, though. I jumped the pins on the switch and heard a "click" in the switch. However, the system still didn't engage. Neither did I have voltage to the compressor. Shouldn't I get voltage to the low pressure switch and the compressor?

Both switches are in series with the cycling switch being on the power side (Purple and Red/Yellow Wires) and the pressure cutoff switch being on the "ground side" (Red/Yellow coming from the cycling switch and DG/O going to the pcm.

12 volts---->Purple wire---->cycling switch--->Red/Yellow---->cutoff switch--->Dark Green/Orange---->PCM

when both these switches close 12 volts is supplied to the pcm to tell it to turn on the compressor.

Guys, just found this thread, and I'm trying to do the same troubleshooting.

Where are the LP and HP switches for the compressor?

I haven't worked on AC systems before, and the Haynes manual doesn't do much for me.

TIA

The LP switch will be on the left side (as you're facing the rear) of the engine compartment, and the HP switch will be on the right side, near the compressor. As busy as I've been over the last month and with the cooler seasons creeping up, I haven't been in a big hurry to do more troubleshooting 'til now. With the A/C wiring schematic in hand (thanks killjoy) and advice from Fireranger, I went back through the system and discovered the problem is a bad LP switch. Thanks for all the help!
